Thanks to its high concentration of antioxidants — focusing on anthocyanins, responsible for its purplish color — açaí reduces the harmful action of free radicals that accelerate cellular wear and tear throughout the body.

This effect is due to the fact that it offers a good dose of fiber, which improves intestinal transit.

3. BRINGS DOWN CHOLESTEROL

This predicate was confirmed through a study carried out at the Federal University of Pará, which compared two groups of guinea pigs, one that drank a fruit-based drink and the other that did not ingest this food. After 12 weeks, the researchers found that the former had a drop in LDL, the bad cholesterol, which the latter did not. The laurels in this case go to phytosterols and anthocyanins. The conclusion is from scientists at the University of Florida, in the United States, after studying the action of its extract against the disease, especially leukemia. The merit lies in the anthocyanins, antioxidant substances present in large amounts in açaí.
